Independently owned and family-operated since 1953, The Powder House is proud to be the oldest ski shop in Utah. Passed down through generations, The Powder House has always been a labor of love, rooted in a deep passion for skiing. Over the decades, we've stayed true to what matters most—providing an authentic, personalized experience for every skier who walks through our doors.
Our story begins with the original Deep Powder House, located right in the heart of Alta, Utah and adjacent to Highway 210. It’s been welcoming skiers since 1953, becoming a cornerstone of the Alta ski scene. In 1993, we opened our second location inside the Rustler Lodge, followed by the Motherlode Powder House in 2003, directly off the Wildcat Parking Lot and at the base of the Collins Lift. In 2013, we expanded beyond Alta to Cottonwood Heights with The Wasatch Powder House. Together, each location offers a distinct vibe, but all share a common goal—to deliver timeless service that captures the skiing spirit of the Wasatch.
At The Powder House, powder skiing is in deep our roots and soul. We live for those bottomless snow days, and we’ll keep embracing winter’s best, one skier at a time.
